As an Academic Year Local Representative, you will be acting as a facilitator for our international students and their American host families. This can be a creative, challenging, and very rewarding part-time job. In return, the position can be difficult and demanding. INTER-ED is looking for self-motivated, flexible, and responsible Representatives that have the ability to resolve problems quickly using their resources and common sense.
Interested in hosting a student?
After you agree to host, you will be asked to fill out a Host Family Application. It will request information regarding the high school your student will attend, a community profile, and a background check release form. Along with the application, we ask that you provide two references.
Your Local Representative will then conduct an in-home visit with all members of your family present. When the student applications are in, your Representative will talk with you about which student to host. The Rep will be there for you throughout the whole experience.
Exchange Students are between 15 and 17 years old, and come from different countries. They have various interests and hobbies but are curious about getting to know a new family and school while being immersed in a new culture.
